Ruth Mary McCourt, 80, of the Town of Friendship, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. She was born on October 30, 1938 in Fond du Lac, WI, to Ambrose and Eileen (McEssy) Liner. Ruth graduated from St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing in October 1959 with a degree in nursing. Ruth Liner married Charles McCourt at Presentation of the BVM Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac on Halloween in 1959 and over the next 15 years, they welcomed 10 children into their home.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Michael, Julie (David), John (Mary), Tom (Kim), Kate, Peter (Dori), Mary (Brian), Joe (Janene), Matt (Rose), Patricia (Mike); siblings, Joanne (Norm), Barbara (David), Tim (Kathy) and Donald. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Robert, Patrick and Steven; and a son-in-law, Mark.
Ruth began her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Agnes Hospital and later spent many years on the night shift at ManorCare until her retirement in 2008.
Family and friends will remember Ruth as a perpetual nurse and caregiver. Ruth was generous in offering her nursing advice and care giving talents to everyone in need. She spent the majority of her life taking care of her family, friends and neighbors through illnesses, injuries and end-of-life. In her free time, Ruth participated in a bowling league with friends, sewed clothes, curtains, and home decor. She was an active and dedicated member of the Presentation of the BVM Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac. She was a member of the Bereavement Committee and volunteered as a religious education teacher for 13 years.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Presentation Church, 705 Michigan Ave. in North Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Presentation Church, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Entombment in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery will follow the services. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth’s life.
The family would like to thank Agnesian Healthcare-Hospice Hope for providing Ruth and her family with exceptional care and support. Memorials will be donated in Ruth’s name to the Agnesian HealthCare Hospice Foundation.
