Ruth P. Nimmer, 95, of Fond du Lac,died Wednesday, March 12, 2013, at Sterling House, where she had resided for the past 1 ½ years. She was born November 23, 1917, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Oswald C. and Clara Madison Lauterback. In August of 1942, she married Dr. Frederick G. Proehl in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in June of 1955. She later married Oscar H. Nimmer in May of 1965, and he preceded her in death in March of 1995. Mrs. Nimmer has been a Fond du Lac resident since 1950, and was a founding member of Hope Lutheran Church. She was very active in Sunday school administration, teaching, and choir activities. In the mid-1950's, she was director of the Junior Choir. She belonged to the Saturday Lecture Club and Round Table, and attended many Bible studies throughout the years. Ruth was formerly employed by Wells Manufacturing and the YMCA as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1965. Surviving is a son, Marshall (Dorothy) Proehl of Oshkosh, a step-son, David Nimmer of Woodbury, MN, two grandchildren, Jodi (Phillip) Plagge of Milwaukee, and Erik (Jan) Proehl of Fond du Lac, two great-grandchildren, Chance Proehl of Oshkosh, and Analeis Plagge of Milwaukee, and two step-great-grandchildren, Dalton Schmitt of Columbus, WI,and Ashley Rowin of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands.
Visitation for Ruth P. Nimmer will be on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 9 to 11 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Thursday at the church. Rev. Steven Huff will officiate and burial will follow in Rienzi Cemetery.
