Sandra Ann “Sandi” Birkhauser, 79, formerly of Fond du Lac, died peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Prairie Place Assisted Living in Ripon, Wisconsin.
Sandra was born March 30, 1942, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the eldest of seven children of Frovin A. “Bud” and Bernice G. Julka Birkhauser. She was raised in Fond du Lac where she attended St. Mary’s Springs Academy. She studied Drama and English at Marquette University, graduating in 1965. Sandra married first, in 1966, to Harry “Buddy” Fry and second, in 1984, to Brian Kaar. She spent the majority of her career as a technical writer but also taught high school and modeled. Sandi spent much of her adult life in Houston, Texas.
Sandi is preceded in death by her parents, Frovin and Bernice Birkhauser, her brother, Daniel (Catherine) Birkhauser, and sister-in-law, Ruth Birkhauser. She is survived by two sisters, Suzanne (fiancé David Thering) Birkhauser of Sun Prairie, and Mary Beth (Eugene) Arnold of Fond du Lac, three brothers, Robert (Ruth) Birkhauser of Nekoosa, David (Terri) Birkhauser of Pinehurst, North Carolina, John (Sharon) Birkhauser of Lake Forest, Illinois, and sister-in-law, Catherine (Daniel) Birkhauser of Haymarket, Virginia. She is also survived by her sixteen nieces and nephews.
Sandi was a cherished daughter, a devoted sister, and a beloved aunt. She approached life with enthusiasm and an unmatched vitality. Her outgoing personality won her many friends and her zest for life led her to many adventures. She is missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 11:00 AM until 12 noon. A Liturgy of the Word Service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 12 noon. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
