Scott Michael Beggs, 60, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his home. Scott was born on May 16, 1949, in Oak Park, IL, the son of Thomas Bernard Beggs and Gladys Mae Spencer. The Beggs family moved to Fond du Lac in 1955. Scott attended Elizabeth Waters Elementary School, Woodworth Junior High School and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1967. As a young man, Scott was a Boy Scout. He was also the drummer in the local band, "The Stage Men," and a lover of music, especially the Beatles. He attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and at El Camino College in California. He was drafted into the Army in 1969, stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, and received a medical discharge later that year. He loved spending time with his friends and family, going to Green Bay Packer games, and going out for Friday night fish frys. Scott married Brenda Lichtensteiger on December 31, 1978, in Fond du Lac. They have two children, Sara Dawn Beggs and Jared Thomas Beggs. Despite divorcing after 21 years of marriage, Scott and Brenda remained close friends. He was wonderfully devoted to his children and considered them to be amazing adults, two of his best friends, and most of all he loved them more than anything! Scott was employed by the Lakeside Canning Company of Eden, and he was looking forward to retirement.Scott is survived by his two children, Sara Beggs of Madison and Jared Beggs of Fond du Lac, his aunt, Neva Beggs of Chicago, his sister, Pamela (Michael) Miller of Prescott, AZ, and their children, Michele Keefer of Camarillo, CA, Heather Hewitt of Santa Monica, CA, and Garrett Miller of Harbor City, CA, He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas B. Beggs, his mother, Gladys Beggs Homuth, his brother, Thomas S. Beggs, and Underfoot, the best little buddy and mooch.
Visitation for Scott Michael Beggs will be on Thursday, February 25, 2010, from 10 am to 2 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 pm at the funeral home on Thursday. The Rev. Tom Williams will officiate and burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
