Shanette J. (Marschie) Strizek

March 24, 1979 — January 3, 2023

On January 3, 2023, at only 43, due to complications from the flu, Shanette has gone to sing in Heaven’s Choir. Shanette Jeaniebeth was the youngest daughter of Glenn and Sara Marschie, born March 24, 1979 in the middle of a snowstorm. She attended Oakfield High School and then onto MPTC Fond du Lac where she received her nursing degree.

Shanette had a deep desire to help those in need, she opened her home to several friends who needed a place to stay whether it was overnight or until they could get back on their feet. She was always the first to give a helping hand. She also knew at a young age that she wanted to work with elderly and once she received her nursing degree did just that at Hope Health and Rehab in Lomira for many years. She was also active in the Girl and Boy Scouts as troop leader for several years, planning events and working with the children, and then opened an in home daycare where she was fondly known as Netty or NeNe by her kids. She would help them gain the skills for entering school and give extra tutoring if they were struggling in school. Shanette also had an amazing musical talent and always placed first in her high school singing competitions, she enjoyed singing duets with her husband and teaching nursery songs to her babies at daycare. She always made a point to visit her mom on Sunday afternoon as much as she could, just to talk or sing to her.

In October 2007, she married the love of her life, Thom Strizek. They enjoyed taking day trips to different sites around Wisconsin, camping and listening to Thom play guitar and sing, organizing the Strizek games each year and dreaming about going to the mountains out west one day.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thom Strizek of Fond du Lac; one daughter, Wendie (Nevin Gordon-Keolanui) Strizek and daughter, Kelly; one son, Jack (Jade Aughinbaugh) Strizek, all of Fond du Lac. She was cherished by her mother, Sara Marschie of Brownsville; three brothers, Chris (Charlene) Marschie of Oakfield, Keith (Stephanie) Marschie of Fairwater, and Joshua (Jessica) Marschie of Oakfield; her two sisters, Sherry Marschie of Brownsville and Sharlene Kintzler of Oakfield. Shanette has nieces and nephews who will lovingly remember her, Heather (Jason) Dorn, Jillian (Craig) Surtees, Jordyn (Clint Compton) Berrett, Olivia (Adam) Lichtenberg, Ethan (Kayla Frasher) Kintzler, Henry (Avery Jahnke) Kintzler, Justin, Madeline, and Clayton Marschie, BobbieSue and Toni Menne along with nine great nieces, Makaila, Abigail, and Paityn Dorn, Mya and Gracelyn Hundertmark, Ava, Emma, Isley, and Oryn Lichtenberg and great nephew, Theodore Surtees. She is further survived by her aunt, Doris Schwark of Beaver Dam and uncle, JC Walden of Blyth, GA; her mother-in-law, Jean Ripley of North Fond du Lac; step parents-in-law, William and Rose Ripley of Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Hollie (Joe) Sawyer; brother-in-law, Shawn Ripley; her two nephews, Keagan Sawyer and very special to her heart, Mavric Ripley.

Shanette was met in Heaven by her father, Glenn Marschie; sister, Shanna; both her maternal and paternal grandparents, along with several aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

There were so many lives that she has touched and so many that held a special place with her, and her fur baby, Bluey.

The family wishes to thank the ICU staff and nurses at SSM Health for their kindness and extreme care taken with Shanette and assisting the family through this difficult time.
