Sharon L. Wilhelms, 56, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. She was born in Fond du Lac on October 12, 1957, the daughter of Donald and Lois (Bukowski) Sabel. Sharon was a 1975 graduate of Goodrich High School, attended UW-Fond du Lac and graduated with a Bachelors degree from UW-Stout. On June 14, 1980, she married Tom Wilhelms at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.
Employed for the past 10 years by Aramark as a supervisor at Woodworth Middle School where Sharon was known as the “Lunch Lady” or “Mrs. W” by many of the students whom she cared about deeply. She was actively involved in the American Legion for the past six years with her husband. She loved her kids, enjoyed playing slot machines, liked to spend time at the cabin up north, enjoyed fishing and lastly, loved her dog, Buddy. Sharon was the current president of the St. Patrick’s Rosary Guild, a member of the KC Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and along with Tom, was an active member of the EAA Warbirds of America. She assisted with the Isaac Walton Conservation League, was for years a Boy Scout leader and until last year, was involved with the Eagle Scout program and religious awards. Sharon was also actively involved in the Girl Scouts of America.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 34 years, Tom, their four children; Nathan (Tracy), Brian (special friend Lydia and her daughter, Riley), Laura, and Anne, granddaughter, Alexa Rose Wilhelms, her parents, Donald and Lois Sabel, her brother, Randy (Jeanne) Sabel, four sisters; Laurie Sabel, Geriann (Joe) Heath, Dawn (Stephen) Skala and Denise Sabel. She is further survived by her mother-in-law, Delores Wilhelms, her brother-in-law, Jim (Donna) Wilhelms, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and lifelong friend, Deb (Tim) Bergen. Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents; Frank and Sophia (Jezeski) Bukowski, Ben and Marcella (Guelig) Sabel, her father-in-law, William Wilhelms, brother-in-law, Johnny Wilhelms and many aunts and uncles.
FUNERAL INFORMATION
A visitation for Sharon will be held Wednesday June 25, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family Church, 271 4th St. Way in Fond du Lac. Burial will follow the mass at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
If you so desire, memorial contributions can be made in Sharon’s name to the Agnesian Community Care Fund and/or the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope.
