Shirley Ann Smith

February 4, 1928 — October 19, 2008

Shirley Ann (Giebel) Smith gently went to God's arms on the beautiful fall morning of Sunday, October 19, 2008 at sunrise. Shirley was born on February 4, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Karl and Louise (Skoag) Giebel. On October 16, 1954, she married William F. Smith at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Shirley was a volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and the Ladies Elks Club. She loved playing bridge, sheepshead, and bingo. She enjoyed traveling the world and spending her summers in St. Germain, WI. She had an abundance of friends who she enjoyed sharing time with, including her monthly breakfast with her three childhood friends. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill Smith, three children, Jo Ann Bauer of Fond du Lac, WI, William S. Smith, of Eden, WI, Nancy Smith of Fond du Lac, WI, four grandchildren, Rhonda (Harold) Pleuss, William C. Smith, Marisa Smith, and Allison Bauer; four great grandchildren, Colin and MaCenna Crofts and Greta and Estella Pleuss. She is further survived by her sister, Evelyn Stephany of Park Ridge, IL, and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Adele Rock, of St. Charles, IL, her brother Karl (Bud) Giebel of Fond du Lac, and two nephews, John Rock and Arthur Rock, of Valencia, California and brother-in-law, James G. Smith of Chico, California.



VISITATION: Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 3-5 P.M. at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Ave, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 5:00 P.M. at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church.
