Shirley Jean Rahl, age 82, formerly of 85 Maria Lane, Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home where she has been a resident for the last thirteen years. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Glenn and Gertrude (Knocke) Searles. Shirley graduated Class Valedictorian from Albion College in Michigan. She was a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating she worked for Chrysler Corporation-Plymouth Division in the statistical department.Shirley moved to Fond du Lac in 1951 and then married Rueben Rahl at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church. Shirley was a math teacher at Goodrich High School for twenty-two years retiring in 1990. She also served as senior class advisor for ten years. Shirley loved flowers, gardening, swimming every summer at Silver Lake by Wautoma, traveling, reading, music, movies, and many other interests. Shirley was very religious in her beliefs and faith.SURVIVORS: her husband, Rueben of Fond du Lac, daughter, Linda (Charles) Skupniewicz of Salinas, CA, two grandchildren, Joseph and Daniel, one brother in law, Leo (Irene) Roehl of Fond du Lac, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Glenn William Rahl, and two sisters in law, Alice Knecht and Nancy Warner.
VISITATION: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with the Reverend Dean Desilet officiating.
