Shirley M. Heimerl, 79, of 258 15th Street, died Saturday, September 6, 2008, at her residence after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born January 10, 1929, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Walter and Della Pahl Schlief. On March 4, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Milton D. Heimerl in Milwaukee. Mrs. Heimerl was a member of Church Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran. After raising her children, she was employed by Wells Manufacturing until her retirement. Shirley enjoyed shopping, traveling, playing cards, and was an avid Brewer and Packers fan.Surviving is her husband, Milton, a daughter, Sherry (Jim) Albert of St. Peter, a son, Steve (Carla) Heimerl of Neshkoro, two grandchildren, Mike (Kim), and Matt (Jodi), three step-grandchildren, Sherry (Mike), Jen (Ryan), and Nick, and seven great-grandchildren, Travis, Mitchell, Devon, Lexi, Logan, Breanna, and Ella. She is further survived by a sister, Evelyn Odam of Fredericksburg, VA, a sister-in-law, Marlayne Testolin of Sun Prairie, WI, and a brother-in-law, Marvin (Gladys) Heimerl of Brownsville, WI. Her parents, a sister, Alice Barham, a son-in-law, Rich Scheberl, a sister-in-law, Arlene Heimerl, two brothers-in-law, Tony Testolin and Ellis Odam preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Shirley M. Heimerl will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, from 2 to 4 pm at Church of Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran, 363 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 4 pm at the church. The Rev. Robert Rosenberg will officiate. Private burial services will be held Thursday in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hospice Home of Hope or to the Church of Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran Building Fund.
