Silverius H. "Servie" Mand

Silverius “Servie” H. Mand, age 90, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, June 01, 2016 at St. Francis Home. He was born on June 20, 1925 in St. Peter, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Mand. On June 26, 1971 Servie married the former Marie E. Gleisner at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. Servie graduated from St. Peter Catholic School. He served in the Armed Forces from 1949-50. He completed basic training in Kentucky and attended medical aidman in Fort Lewis, WA. He was also in the Army Reserve for five years. Servie was employed at Borden Company for twenty years and at Mercury Marine from 1971 until his retirement in 1990.

Servie enjoyed all sports, playing cards, traveling, nature, walking, and visiting with friends. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Knights of Columbus, Fond du Lac Senior Center, longtime usher at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and a charter member of St. Peter’s Athletic Club. Servie served as a volunteer for St. Agnes Hospital for twenty-one years- 3,215 hours of loyal, dedicated, and valuable service.

Survivors include his wife Marie of forty-four years; two sisters, Genevieve Kopplin of Watertown, and Virginia Schneider of St. Peter; one brother, Leo (Irene) Mand of St. Peter; sisters-in-law, Esther Mand of Fond du Lac, Florence Weizenicker of Tomahawk, WI, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Servie was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elizabeth Mand; sisters, brothers, and in-laws, Florence and Alex Michels, Alois and Lydia Mand, Ambrose and Agnes Mand, Alfred Mand, Emil Kopplin, Adolph Schneider, Raymond and Mary Mand, Wilfred and Marie Abler, Irene (Sister Sylvina) Gleisner, Agnes and Henry Van Harpen, Bernard and Clara Gleisner, Martin and Mildred Gleisner, Lloyd and Geraldine Gleisner, Theresa and Richard Ferrie, Veronica Gleisner, Catherine Gleisner, Ralph Gleisner, Leon Weizenicker; three nephews, Gary, Peter, and Robert Mand; one niece and Godchild, Mary Teofilo.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 4-7 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church-Holy Family Parish, N8079 Church Rd, Malone, WI, 53049. Visitation will also take place on Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
