Terry L. Reitz, 67, of Van Dyne, died at his home on Thursday morning, October 29, 2015 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fond du Lac on December 7, 1947 to Raymond and Flossie (Berholtz) Reitz. On April 21, 1979, Terry married Anna B. Wagner at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nekimi.
He will be remembered for being a loving husband, father and grandfather. Terry loved his family and friends. His grandsons, Parker & Peyton were very special to him as were his and Anna’s best friends, Neil & Marcia Sonnenberg.
Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and yard work. Every year, he and Anna enjoyed a warm weather vacation. He was a devoted Packer and Brewers fan. In 2009, Terry retired from AT&T, having been employed for 37 years as a System’s Technician. For 39 years, he was a very dedicated member of the Van Dyne Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a First Responder and for 20 years, as the Assistant Chief. From 1967-1970, Terry served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. At one point, he was stationed along the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in South Korea.
Surviving Terry are his wife of 36 years, Anna; 2 children, Tara (Brian) Wendt of Eldorado and Tim (Tina) Reitz of North Fond du Lac; 2 grandsons, Parker & Peyton Wendt; sister, Joanne Jonas of Clintonville; mother-in-law, Lillian (Bruno) Kraus of Fond du Lac; 6 brothers-in-law, Joe (Grace) Wagner of Malone, Ken Wagner of Fond du Lac, Bill (Jill) Wagner of Malone, Rick (Brenda) Wagner of Mt. Calvary, Mark (Tess) Wagner of Fond du Lac and Terry (Mary) Wagner of North Fond du Lac; 5 sisters-in-law, Mary (Don) Schneider of Malone, Julie Kohlman of Fond du Lac, Debra (Randall) Freund of Mt. Calvary, Laurie (Ron) Meyer of Chilton and Melissa (Scott) Muche of Mayville; step-brother-in-law, Jerry (Barb) Kraus of Malone; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; father-in-law, Elmer Wagner; and 2 brothers-in-law, Les Jonas and William Kraus.
Visitation for Terry will be held Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church (NFDL), Monday, November 2, 2015 beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastors Thomas Behnke & Michael Kampman. Burial in the Veterans Garden of Honor, Ledgeview Memorial Park will follow the service. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard, Trier-Puddy Post #75.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the following organizations; Van Dyne Volunteer Fire Department, Agnesian Hospice Hope and/or St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church – Debt Fund.
Terry’s family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Agnesian Hospital - 5 South, the Agnesian Cancer Center and the RN’s and CNA’s from Hospice Hope.
