Thelma "Tillie" C. Geiger, age 83, formerly of 322 E. 14th St, Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at St. Francis Nursing Home. She was born on March 14, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Joseph A. and Gertrude A. (Kierig) Menge. Thelma was a 1946 graduate of Goodrich High School and also was a graduate of the St. Agnes School of Nursing. On July 24, 1948 she married Ronald Geiger in Fond du Lac. Thelma was a Registered Nurse at St. Agnes Hospital for forty years in the labor and delivery department. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church and Holy Family Parish, a member of St. Agnes School of Nursing Alumni Association, and the St. Francis Home Auxiliary where she was a past vice-president.SURVIVORS: her husband, Ronald of Fond du Lac, her children, Ann (Stephen) Yanke of Fond du Lac, William (Kim) Geiger of Butler, Joan Geiger of Fond du Lac, Karen (Philip) DuWell of Johnsburg, five grandchildren, Patrick (Sara) Yanke of Oakfield, Andrew Yanke of North Fond du Lac, Jared, Jacob, and Lauren DuWell of Johnsburg, four great-grandchildren, Hailey, Connor, Collin, Caden, brother, Ted Menge of Green Bay, sister, Jeanne (Howard) Lueloff of Fond du Lac, sister in law, Grace Menge of Racine, sister in law, Dora Zupke of Byron, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters and their husbands, Virginia (Roy) Behnke, Valina (Peter) Zopolos, her brother, Eugene Menge, sister in law, Irene Menge, sister in law and brother in law, Irene (Louis) Wagner, brother in law, Raymond Geiger, brother and sister in law, Harry (Mary Lou) Geiger.
VISITATION: Friday, September 26, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Parish-Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, with the Reverend Patrick Heppe officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Agnes Hospital Foundation Women's and Infants or St. Francis Foundation. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Russ Fredrickson, the staff and nurses on the 5th Floor at St. Agnes Hospital, and the staff and nurses and St. Francis Home and St. Francis Terrace for their care and compassion shown to Thelma and her family.Mom was known to write a poem for special occasions.For this celebration of her life this attempt is made.Thelma Geiger was a woman with different names for different roles in the lives of the people she knew.No matter by which name you called her, she always answered true.To Many expectant parents and peers "Tillie" she was called for 40 years.She helped so many parents bring their babies into this world, wrapping them in pink or blue.She enjoyed her work so much; to her nurses calling she was always true.To relatives she was "Thelma" whether Sister, Aunt, Cousin or an In-law.Her medical background knowledge often came in handy as they saw.To her family "Mom" always answered our calls and lovingly met our needs.Her love for us was shown in so many encouraging words and giving deeds."Tillie", "Thelma", or "Mom", three persons in one who lived her life as a nurse,family member and wife.
