Thomas E. Stoddart

THOMAS E. STODDARTThomas E. Stoddart age 82, of Fond du Lac died peacefully in the presence of family on September 19, 2005 at Manor Care Health Services in Fond du Lac, WI. He was born March 18, 1923 in Markesan, WI the son of Edward R. and Eliata A. Davids Stoddart. Strong ties to his Scottish heritage could always be found in his home. Tom married Claire R. Zulauf on April 10, 1948 at St. Peter's Church in Fond du Lac, WI. Claire preceded him in death on December 15, 1998. 1941 graduate of Beaver Dam high school, Tom later joined the US Marine Corp where he served proudly in the Pacific region during World War II. After returning home he found employment with Railway Express and worked for company offices in Beaver Dam WI, Ironwood MI, Milwaukee WI, and Peoria Il. Tom then purchased and operated the Tartan Inn, near Bradley University in Peoria Il. There he and his wife ran a respectable pub, while staying involved with their community. During his free time he enjoyed a love for golf and big band music. Worthy of note was Tom's participation and involvement as a charter member of the organization Father's of Fatherless Son's in Peoria Il. Tom was a proud member of American Legion Post No. 0005, Ironwood MI. He was also a member of the Fond du Lac Elks lodge No. 57. He is survived and loved by in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a special friend Vi. Thank you for the loving and caring you all shared with Tom. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, along with his three sisters; Merna Langdon, Zola Earling, Ivoe Kohn.



At Tom's request there will be no visitation or services. Cremation will take place with inurnment at Markesan Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
