Thomas Joseph Freund, 54, of Lamartine, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. Tom was born on December 5, 1956, in Fond du Lac, the son of Alex and Gladys (Koenigs) Freund. He was a 1975 Oakfield High School graduate. Tom was united in marriage to Suzanne M. Zwicky on May 16, 1981 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. He was employed by Bergstrom Automotive in Oshkosh as a master auto technician. Tom has been working as a technician since 1979. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands, whether it be tinkering with vehicles, tending to his many projects in the workshop or hanging up Christmas lights around the house. He liked doing outdoor activities and was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Tom spent time enjoying the world around him, even the small things such as feeding and watching the squirrels and birds in the backyard. Sheepshead was his favorite card game to play at family gatherings, especially on Christmas. He also enjoyed taking road trips and looking for trains with his son. Tom was an avid fan of country music, always encouraging his daughters to partake in the fun of watching music videos and old westerns. He always went above and beyond the call of duty for his wife, children, and mother. ¬¬¬¬¬¬SURVIVORS: Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sue; his three children, Heather Freund, Christopher Freund and Ashley Freund, all of Lamartine; his mother Gladys of Fond du Lac; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna Goetz of Lombard, Ill., Steve (Lauretta) Zwicky of Charleston, S.C., Gerard (Sheryl) Zwicky of Park Ridge, Ill., Mary (Robert) Leb of Lomira, Wis. and Bernard (Beth) Zwicky of Oshkosh.; his nieces and nephews, Michael Leb of Fond du Lac, Eric Leb of Fond du Lac, Katie Leb of Lomira, Elizabeth Zwicky of Lombard, Ill. and Andrew Zwicky of Park Ridge, Ill; step-brothers and sisters-in-law Kathy (Jon) Westphal of Port Washington, WI, Karl Ziebert of Fond du Lac, Ken (Sharon) Ziebert of Omro, Elaine (Kevin) Burke of Madison, Anne (Steve) Schneider of Fond du Lac, Paul (Debra) Ziebert of Campbellsport; further survived by many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Freund; his father, Alex J. Freund; one brother, Gerald L. Freund; paternal grandparents, Leo and Cecilia (Blatz) Freund; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Adella (Wagner) Koenigs; father-in-law, Fred J. Zwicky, Jr.; mothers-in-law, Loretta (Schneider) Zwicky and Eunice (Manthey Ziebert) Zwicky; brother-in-law, John Zwicky; and step brother-in-law, Tod Ziebert.
VISITATION: will be held from 4 "“ 8 PM on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 9 "“ 10 AM at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Sons of Zebedee, St. James Church, Oakfield with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. Entombment will take place at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
