www.ueckerwitt.com.Thomas J. Lemke Thomas J. Lemke, 73, a resident of the Town of Empire, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at his residence. He was born February 6, 1938, in Fond du Lac, the son of Harold C. and Eleanor M. Lehner Lemke. Tom was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's Springs Academy. On September 12, 1959, he married Margo M. Masterson, his "child bride", in Fond du Lac. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard serving from 1956 to 1962. From February 8, 1962 to October 20, 1989, Tom served on the Fond du Lac Police force, retiring as a Captain. He was a Life member of Elks Lodge #57 where he twice served as Exalted Ruler and was a Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. For the past 37 years, he had been Santa at the Elks children's programs. Tom was a model train hobbyist, and served as a volunteer engineer at the Green Bay National Railroad Museum. For 19 years, he and Margo operated the Mosquito Hill and DeerFly Falls Railroad at their residence which entertained over 1000 visitors annually. Surviving are his wife, Margo, two daughters, Michele (Kent) Fisher of Fond du Lac and their daughter, Halsey; Renee (Todd) Lotter of Kewaskum and their sons, Steven and Kevin; four sons, Kevin (Kerrin) Lemke of Fond du Lac and their son, Tony; Brian Lemke of Oshkosh, Terrence (Anne) Lemke of Fond du Lac and their children, Nicholas and Kathlene; and Patrick (Jill) Lemke of Germantown and their children, Dana and Davis. He is further survived by two sisters, Adele Lemke and Sue (John) Freund, both of Fond du Lac. His parents and a sister, Ann Schaefer, preceded him in death.
Visitation for Thomas J. Lemke will be on Friday, December 30, 2011, from 1 to 5 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word for Christian Burial services will be at 5 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Scott Wiese, Tom's cousin, will officiate. Cremation will follow the traditional services. Inurnment of cremated remains will be in the Cross of Calvary Cremation Garden, Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Officer Craig Birkholz Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Fond du Lac Police Department, 126 N. Main Street, Fond du Lac 54935.
