Thomas V. Ericksen

July 4, 1955 — January 25, 2021

Thomas V. Ericksen, 65, of Fond du Lac, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on January 25, 2021. Tom was born on July 4, 1955, a son of Margaret I. (Costello) and H. Daniel Ericksen. He graduated from Fond du Lac High School and went on to form Ericksen Auto Polishing with his brother, Dan. Tom concluded his career as a cabinet maker for Discher Architectural Millwork.

Tom was involved in his community. In his youth, he enjoyed speed skating and building bicycles. He played baritone for the Marquis Drum and Bugle Corps and received medals and certificates for competitive marksmanship. In later years, he had a boat named the “Captain Hook” where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with the people he loved. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club where he led steak and fish fries, New Year’s Eve events, and antique boat shows.

To know Tom was to know a man with a gentle soul. He was an avid baker, griller, pumpkin carver and woodworker. He enjoyed summers working in the yard and gardening, especially tending to his tomatoes and planting red geraniums. He was especially skilled at restoration of cars, boats, and furniture and spent many hours watching and feeding birds, particularly his black-capped chickadee friend, Hermie. Tom was most himself when helping others, as he so enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. His biggest pride and joy in life was his daughter, celebrating all of her milestones and accomplishments with her and her Mom.

Those left to cherish Tom’s memory include his daughter, Doniell Ericksen (Ben Marks); mother of Doniell and best friend, Kayla Ericksen; brothers Dan (Kate) Ericksen and Tim (Sue) Ericksen; niece, Lisa (Gus) Schroeder; nephews,Tom (Bobbie) Ericksen, Tim (Bernadette) Ericksen; great-niece Allison Schroeder and many relatives and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Alan Ericksen.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Toni Stanley, and the staff of Surgery, ICU, Rehab, Acute Care, Infusion, the Cancer Center and Dr. Brenda Grass, of Agnesian HealthCare, as well as to Dr. Colin Mooney, Dr. Candice Johnstone and the staff of the Kraemer Cancer Center, for providing more years of family memories. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to all family and friends that provided their support, caring, kindness and love.

To prevent Covid -19 transmission, a private family service will take place with a Celebration of Life occurring at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed in Tom’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul.
