Vera Marie Marcoe, 101 (Nee Loehr), passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born December 29, 1915 in Rogersville, WI to Arthur Q. and Mary (Vogds) Loehr. She attended John Paul Jones grade school and graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1933.
In 1935, Vera married Clarence Lawerence Marcoe. Clarence and Vera raised five children and farmed in the rural Van Dyne area for 32 years. Vera was a fastidious homemaker, great gardener, excellent cook and gifted seamstress. Vera had a loving relationship with her God and was a life-ling member of Presentation Parish.
After moving from the farm, Vera began volunteer work in the service of others. She was recognized in 2004 by the Agnesian Healthcare Volunteer Program for 3,385 hours of loyal and valuable service.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; her son, Gerald Marcoe; her daughter, Joanne Gause; her brothers, Conrad and Edward (Betty) Loehr; sisters, Lila (Norman) Graffon and Joyce (Edward) Ferrel; grandson, Kurt Wellman; great-grandson, Max Steinke; and sons-in-law, Donald Stienke and Hans Hagel.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Mary Steinke, Kay Hagel (Tom Schmidt) and Elyse Marcoe; son-in-law, Ron Mack; grandchildren, Jim (Brenda) Steinke, Denise (Troy) Harbachek, Jeff Steinke, Jim Marcoe, Mike Marcoe and Julie (Phil) Walgenbach. Vera had 12 great-grandchildren, Sean, Josh and Kristen Steinke; Kyle, Veronica and Joey Steinke; Nathan, Naomi and Jonathan Marcoe; Hailey and Paton Walgenbach; and also special love, care and kindness from nieces and nephews, Maryanne Loehr, Rosemary Steinbach and Ron Loehr; good friend, Tom Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 3:00 PM, St. Francis Chapel, 33 Everett St. in Fond du Lac. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the time of Mass. Cremation has taken place.
The family would like to thank the staff of the St. Francis Home, especially her buddies Shawni and Nicole. Also, a special thanks to Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope for all their wonderful, loving and compassionate care.
