Vern W. Morgan, 90, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation in Fond du Lac. Vern was born November 6, 1927 in Portage, Wis. to Clarence and Violet (Schmidt) Morgan. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1947 – 1949. On June 4, 1948, Vern married June Dalton in Montello, Wis.; their 69th anniversary would have been this coming June.
Vern enjoyed dancing and all family gatherings. He was also an avid sports enthusiast following the Cubs and Packers. Vern was one of the Packer fans that actually attended the famous “Ice Bowl”, witnessing in front of his season ticket seats the final seconds of the game when Bart Starr made his famous sneak play into the end zone.
Survivors include his wife, June; four children, Gregg (Sharon) Morgan, Russell (Gaybralee) Morgan, Cheryl (James) Pelkey and Heather (Scott) Thomas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandson who he was able to hold at the family picnic this past summer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jean; brother, Chuck; two sisters, Molly Gest and Janet Dedrick; his wife’s parents, Eugene and Nellie Dalton; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A Celebration of Life will begin at 3:30 PM with a memorial message and prayer, led by Chaplain Tim Stringham. Military honors will follow the service. Cremation has taken place.
Vern’s family would like to thank the entire staff of Harbor Haven and Agnesian Hospice Hope for providing outstanding care during his time with them.
