Vernon H. Dobbs

Vernon H. Dobbs, 81, formerly of 930 Michigan Avenue, North Fond du Lac, died Monday, November 12, 2007, at ManorCare Nursing Home where he had been a resident since August of this year. He was born May 9, 1926, in North Fond du Lac, the son of Henry and Vivian White Dobbs. In 1950, he married Doris Piontek in North Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1997. Mr. Dobbs was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac. For over 25 years, he was employed by Galloway-West Corporation, retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the US Army in Europe. Surviving are eight children, Charlene Schifelbine of North Fond du Lac, Michael (Colleen) Dobbs of Lomira, Patrick (Lori) Dobbs of North Fond du Lac, Terry Newhouse of Fond du Lac, Christine Krofta of North Fond du Lac, Linda Larson of Fond du Lac, Nicole (Dale) Johnson of Nashville, TN, and Robert Dobbs of Fond du Lac; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his best friend, his pet dog, Charlie. His parents, wife, two grandsons, Christopher Dobbs and Dean Walgenbach, and a son-in-law, John Schifelbine, preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Vernon H. Dobbs will be on Friday, November 16, 2007, from 10 am to 1:30 pm at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Adams Avenue, North Fond du Lac, WI 54937. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Friday at the church. The Rev. Thomas Behnke will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Members of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 Firing Squad will conduct graveside military rites. A memorial has been established in Mr. Dobbs' name.
