Vernon PieperVernon A. Pieper, 91, formerly a resident of North Fond du Lac and currently a resident of Rhinelander died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Sacred Heart-St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander. Vernon was born May 15, 1913 in Ripon, a son of Emil and Elizabeth Hoch Pieper. On April 25, 1936 he married Erma Beduhn in Van Dyne. Vernon worked for the Chicago Northwestern and Soo Line Railroad in North Fond du Lac. He also worked for Wisconsin Power and Light as a maintenance man. Vernon was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac. He also belonged to the Men's Flower and Garden Club and the Muskie Club. Vernon belonged to the North Fond du Lac Volunteer Fire Department for many years as well. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and flowers. Survivors include four children; Yvonne (Arnold) Schmoleski of North Fond du Lac, Earl (Judy) Pieper of Park Falls, WI, Robert (Ellen) Pieper of Park Falls, WI, Kathie (Jim) Sebestyen of Lake Tomahawk, WI, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one sister; Doris Ristau of Nekoosa, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son; David Pieper, one granddaughter, and two sisters.
Visitation for Mr. Pieper will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2005 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at the church with the Rev. Thomas Behnke officiating. Burial will follow at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of Froedtert Hospital for brain cancer research. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
