Viola E. "Vi" Wallender

Viola E. "Vi" Wallender, age 91 of North Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, September 23, 2005. Viola was born on September 15, 1914 in the Town of Friendship a daughter of the late Joseph and Rosella (Marcoe) Roberts. She was the youngest of seven children. Vi married Emil Wallender on November 19, 1932 in North Fond du Lac with the Rev. LaVernce presiding. The couple lived in North Fond du Lac all of their lives. Emil preceded Vi in death in 1991. Before marriage Vi worked at Infant Socks. Through the years she loved to sew, garden and spend time with family and friends, especially her young grandchildren. Along with raising her own children, Vi and Emil raised several foster children. She also loved to read her Bible and was a founding member of The Apostolic Christian Church of Fond du Lac where she taught both adult and children's Sunday School and attended her church faithfully. Vi was also a volunteer for the Salvation Army Kindercare Program where she met a dear friend Esther. Many years later they renewed their friendship, both living at Alterra Assisted Living. Vi found great joy in giving to others. Whether it was doing a pile of dishes, buying a Bible for someone, or a ride to the church, all done out of her love to help or assist others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Vivian (Leonard) Gyr of North Fond du Lac, Lorraine (Tom) Bonnell of Fond du Lac, Emil "Butch"(Ann) Wallender, Nancy Kartos, her former son in law, Tom Kartos, her foster daughter, Diane (Don) Funk all of North Fond du Lac. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends, and of course her cat Kutzee. She was preceded in death by an infant son, two grandsons, Frankie Oliver and Kevin Kartos, three brothers, Harold, Harry and Joseph; three sisters, LaVerne, Elva and Mary.



Services: Funeral services for Viola will be held on Monday evening, September 26, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home 524 N. Park Ave. with the Reverend Ronald Krebs officiating. Inurnment will be in Estabrook Cemetery.Visitation: A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established. The Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff of Alterra Sterling for taking loving, tender care of Vi, Kutzee and her family during her final days. The family would also like to thank the caring staff of Hospice for their support to Vi and her family. And again, a huge thank you to those friends and family that gave Vi special attention during her last days"¦you know who you are.
