Virginia A. Halfman, 88, formerly of Fond du Lac, and a resident of Phoenix, AZ since 1966, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, in Phoenix. She was born May 2, 1923, in New Holstein, the daughter of Theodore and Francis Karls Nicolay. She was a graduate of New Holstein High School. On January 3, 1942, she married LaVern Halfman at St. Gregory's Church in St. Nazianz, WI. After moving to Phoenix, she was employed by Motorola for 16 years. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Surviving is her husband, a daughter, Sandra (David) Beyer of Fond du Lac, three sons, Ryan Halfman of Woodbury, MN, Steven (Patricia) Halfman of Peoria, AZ, and Bradley (Jennifer) Halfman of Mesa, AZ, a sister-in-law, Stella Nicolay of Chilton, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Colexia and Glenroy Diedrick of Chilton, nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Blake H. Halfman, her parents, a brother, Helmuth Nicolay, a sister, Alice Kornack, a brother-in-law, Emil Kornack, her mother-in-law, Selena Greuel Halfman, and her father-in-law, Henry Halfman.
Visitation for Virginia A. Halfman will be on Friday, May 13, 2011, from 9 to 11 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Virginia's name.
