Virginia M. Blattner

Virginia M. “Ginny” Blattner, 92, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014. She was born on May 9, 1922, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Russell R. and Amelia C. “Mollie” Freund Schaad. On October 26, 1946, she married Sylvanus R. “Sy” Blattner at St. Mary’s Church. Ginny was a graduate of St. Agnes School of Nursing and worked at St. Agnes Hospital for 50 years until her retirement on May 31, 1991. She was extremely proud of her R.N. nursing career. She was the Night Supervisor until her retirement.

She is survived by one son, Lt. Col. (Ret.) John and his wife, Carol of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Mary Beth Carew and Susan Radue and her husband, Jack, both of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Cecilia Kobs and Irma Schaad, both of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Jane Wehrenberg and Molly Treleven, one brother-in-law, Thomas Schaad, and a sister-in-law, Ann Heath.

Per Virginia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation will take place and her cremated remains will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Virginia’s family requests that memorials be directed to Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope, 239 Trowbridge Drive, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
