Wallace E. Thiel, 77, of the Town of Taycheedah, died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at his residence. He was born January 9, 1936, in the Town of Mosel, Sheboygan County, the son of Herbert and Eleanora Hinz Thiel. He graduated from Sheboygan Central in 1954. In 1959, he married Louise C. Schnell at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Wallace started his drafting career at Thomas Industries in Sheboygan where he was employed from 1959 to 1967. In 1967, he joined Tecumseh Products of New Holstein, and after 30 years of service retired as a drafting supervisor. From March of 1958 to December of 1964, he served with the US Army Reserves. He was a Sheboygan County resident until 1969 when he moved to New Holstein. In 1987, he and his wife moved to the Fond du Lac area. Mr. Thiel was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg where he was currently a Trustee on the parish council. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was an avid hunter. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Fond du Lac and delivered the Fond du Lac Senior Center newsletter. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Senior Center ROMEO's (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He also served on the volunteer fire departments of the Town of Wilson/Black River for several years and New Holstein for 17 years. Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Louise, and his six children, Donald (Mary) Thiel of Waukesha, Kathleen (Joseph) Lemke of Malone, Russell (Michelle) Thiel of New Holstein, Patrick (Kathleen) Thiel of Sun Prairie, and twins, Randall Thiel of Fitchburg and Renee (David) Komosa of Crystal Lake, IL. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren, two brothers, Herbert and Jerome Thiel, both of Sheboygan, and three sisters, Lavern (Ronald) Kampmann of Sheboygan Falls, Jean (Donald) Laurer of Sheboygan, and Judith (Merl) Krull of Maryville, TN, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Travis Komosa, and a sister, Lou Ann Thiel.
Visitation for Wallace E. Thiel will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Thursday, from 10 to 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at the church on Thursday. Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery.
