Wallace M. Krause

April 25, 1923 — February 4, 2024

Fond du Lac

Wallace Martin Krause was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Albert and Marie (Bluemke) Krause on April 25, 1923.  He entered his eternal rest on February 4, 2024, at the age of 100.  He grew up in Fond du Lac, the second youngest of five siblings.  He never got to know his father who passed away while he was less than 2 years old.  His mother raised him and his siblings by the grace of God, hard work, and with the assistance of others.  While times were difficult, she made certain that he and his siblings received a Christian education attending St. Peter’s Lutheran School.  He and his siblings attended Winnebago Lutheran Academy through the support of others.  He graduated from WLA in 1941.  He then attended a business college until being drafted into the US Army in 1943.   He went on to serve in the European theater of war.

Upon discharge from the US Army, he completed his college education in 1948.  After a few months of working elsewhere, he went on to work at Wells Manufacturing as the Cost Department Manager.  He retired from Wells in 1985.

He met his future bride, Wilma Hensel of Good Thunder, Minnesota, in 1952 when his brother, Gilbert, who was teaching there in the Lutheran elementary school, brought her along on a trip back to Fond du Lac.   They were united in marriage on June 27, 1953.  They were blessed with two children, Kathy and Jeff.

Wallace had a passion for music and served as a choir director, first at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and then later at Faith Lutheran Church for many years.  He also served as the business manager of Winnebago Lutheran Academy from 1962 until his retirement in 2009.  He considered this service as one opportunity among many others as a way of returning the blessings he received by the generous support of others who allowed him and his siblings to attend WLA.

Wallace and Wilma were blessed with 41 years of marriage.   She preceded him in death in 1994.   He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Esther Rueping, Norman Krause, Gilbert Krause and Arman Krause.  He is survived by his two children, Kathy Stern (Paul) of Livingston Montana, and Jeff Krause, of Germantown, Wisconsin.

While our hearts are saddened with his passing, his family rejoices in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.  “Be thou faithful unto the point of death, and I will give thee the crown of life.”   Revelation 2:20

There will be a private committal service on Friday, February 16 at Ledgeview Cemetery.  A service of Christian comfort and thanksgiving will be held on Saturday, February 17, at Faith Lutheran Church, 55 Prairie Drive, Fond du Lac, at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be directed to either Faith Lutheran Church or Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
