WALTER "WALLY" L. GIEBELWalter "Wally" L. Giebel, 66, of Fond du Lac, left this earth on Friday, October 19, 2007 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born in Fond du Lac on June 23, 1941, the son of Walter and Viola Hjort Giebel. Walter graduated from St. Mary's Springs in 1959, and Oshkosh Technical School with an Associated Degree in Mechanical Design. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and Mountain View College. He was employed by Giddings and Lewis, Sprague Electric and Outboard Marine before entering the aerospace industry. He was a design supervisor working on the Space Shuttle for Martin Marietta in New Orleans. For eighteen years he worked on commercial and military aircraft for Vought Aircraft in Dallas before retiring. He also was a Real Estate Broker and a Home Designer in the Grafton area. He was a member of the Grafton Lions Club and Chairman of the Grafton Architectural Control Board. On November 13, 1981 he married Diana Krause in Covington, LA. He enjoyed his retirement on Lake Winnebago. Walter spent his free time boating, snowmobiling, taking his beloved dog, Angel for walks in the marsh and shooting pool at the senior center. His favorite past time was shooting clay pigeons. He was a member of the Van Dyne Sportsman Club and frequently shot at the Wild Wings Hunting Club in Campbellsport. Walter was an ARP tax aid volunteer and enjoyed his time helping others. SURVIVORS: his wife, Diana (Krause), Fond du Lac; three sons, Thomas, New York, Michael, Oshkosh, David (Barbara), Van Dyne; one daughter, Rebecca (Chris) Gess, Oshkosh. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Robin and Holly Kanehl, both of Fond du Lac; a sister, Sandra (Arthur) Schierland, Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, Victor (Jan) Krause, Germantown; five grandchildren, Joseph Giebel-Keesler, Charles Gess, Hailey Gess, David Giebel and Jack Giebel; one step granddaughter, Hillary Peppler; nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 7 PM on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home with Deacon Larry Hughes officiating.
