Wayne John Ristau

Wayne John Ristau, age 79, of Fond du Lac, passed away on February 21, 2024, at St. Agnes Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on October 14, 1944, in Fond du Lac, the son of Forest and Demaris (Hopper) Ristau. He attended St. Joseph’s School and Goodrich High School graduating in 1961. He served in the United States Army. After serving he met and married Sophia Eichman on April 23, 1965, at Presentation Church in North Fond du Lac. Wayne worked for Mercury Marine for over 40 years until retirement.

Wayne enjoyed watching tv, especially sports, Notre Dame being his favorite, the Brewers, Packers, and Bucks. He never missed his children or grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a long-time member of the Eagles, where he would spend time with Buzz, Sammy, and Dennis. He loved playing cards with his family and friends, going golfing, and bowling. Wayne also enjoyed his trips to Florida. 

He is survived by his wife, Sophie; his children, Michael (Denise) Ristau, Brian (Ana) Ristau, and Lisa Lemke; six grandchildren, Bryce (Megan) and Cade Lemke, Holden, Kali, Journey, and Greyson Ristau; nieces, nephews, and friends, Shirley Feyen, Kathy Nett, and Esther Olig. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Schuppe; brother-in-law, Richard Schuppe; grandmother, Isabelle Hopper; and friend, David Feyen.

Wayne will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, his amazing sense of humor, and mostly for the way he loved his family.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Military graveside honors will take place at the funeral home. Private family entombment will take place at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.

Wayne’s family would like to thank the Emergency doctors and nurses for their exceptional care and compassion given to the family on his last day.
