Wendell B. Haskins, 95, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully Thursday evening, September 7, 2006, at the All About Life Rehabilitation Center, where he had resided the past week. He was born August 18, 1911, in Duluth, MN, the son of Arthur H. and Sophia Grettum Haskins. On July 4, 1936, he married Esther Lentz on the home farm in Berlin, WI. He served his machinist apprenticeship and worked for Clyde Iron in Duluth, MN. In 1936, he came to Fond du Lac and worked at Giddings & Lewis as a journeyman machinist for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Cornerstone Worship Center.Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Esther, two daughters, Barbara (Gary) Wilke of Shawano, and Marilyn (Daniel) Wilke of Sheboygan Falls, three grandchildren, Heather Wilke of Shawano, and Jason and Steven Wilke, both of Plymouth. He is further survived by two sisters, Mildred Marco of Long Beach, CA, and Lucille Lunderburg of Egan, MN, a sister-in-law, Alice Urshan of Rio Rancho, NM, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Oliver, Chester, and Clifford Haskins, and one sister, Virginia Walters.
Visitation for Mr. Wendell B. Haskins will be on Sunday, September 10, 2006, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Monday, September 11, 2006, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Cornerstone Worship Center. Funeral services will be on Monday, September 11, 2006, at 10:30 am at Cornerstone Worship Center. The Revs Scott Huse and Manuel Rogers will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mr. Haskins' name.
