Wesley M. Lemke, 72, of 278 Taft Street, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at his residence with his wife at his side. He was born January 30, 1938, in Fond du Lac, the son of William and Hilda Rock Lemke. On October 29, 1960, he married Carolyn M. Simon at St. Mary's Church. Wes was formerly employed for 29 years by the Soo Line Railroad retiring as an engineer. He later worked for 20 years at Capelle-Diedrich Contractors, retiring on January 30, 2008. He was a member of Holy Family parish. Wes was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1957 to 1959. An avid sportsman, Wes belonged to the Wescot Sportsmen's Club and was a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. He also was a member of Eagles Aerie #270 Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, two sisters, Alice (Dave) Pittl and Marilyn (Gordon) Zoch, both of Fond du Lac, two brothers, Bill (Joan) Lemke and Lloyd (Betty) Lemke, both of Fond du Lac, a brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" George of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Susan (Donald) Diedrich and Nancy Lemke, both of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. His parents, a daughter, Debbie, a brother, Marvin Lemke, two sisters, Laverne Pappenfuss and Patricia George, and two brothers-in-law, Jack Pappenfuss and Bruce Lemke preceded him in death.
Visitation for Wesley M. Lemke will be on Sunday, December 19, 2010, from 3 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word for Christian Burial will be at 7 pm at the funeral home on Sunday. Deacon Larry Hughes will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Wesley's name.
