William C. Tank, age 69, of Oshkosh, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer for three years. He was born on July 31, 1939 in the Town of Friendship, the son of Clarence and Louise (Schmal) Tank. He graduated from Oshkosh High School. On March 3, 1962 married Judith Galica in Fond du Lac. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Bill worked for the City of Oshkosh for thirty-seven years in the Sanitation Department, crane operator, street department, and wastewater treatment plant. He enjoyed the outdoors-his favorite was perch fishing; boy he sure caught the perch. Also bow hunting, sturgeon spearing, and camping at the in-laws land in Rhinelander, WI. He sure was a people person, he could talk to anyone, he had a quick wit, great sense of humor and was a professional B.S.-er. He enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends Donavon and Lee Weitz. He was a wonderful loving husband and father. Family was the most important thing in his life.SURVIVORS: his loving wife, Judith of forty-seven years, two sons, Daniel (Susan) Tank of Omro, Timothy (Chrissy) Tank of North Fond du Lac, one daughter, Sue (Mike) Nett of Omro, sister, Judy Clark of Fond du Lac, mother in law and father in law, John F. and Genevieve Galica, special friends, Donavon and Lee Weitz, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise Tank, infant son and daughter Donna and Douglas Tank, sister and brother in law, Beverly and Arlie Schumacher, brother in law, Thomas J. Galica, sister in law, Beverly Galica, nephew, Randy Galica, and his special sweetheart "Squirt".
Per his request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held. A memorial has been established and gifts in his name appreciated to Aurora VNA Hospice or the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center.The family wishes to thank the Aurora VNA Hospice and home care, especially Berta, Tammy, and Erica for all their comfort, support, and great care during this difficult time.Dr. Dar and everyone at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic: Thank you for taking such great care of my husband and our father.And to Pastor Martin Ruge: We cannot thank you enough for the spiritual support, all the home visits you gave my husband and our father.
