William E. Sabel

William E. Sabel, 87 formerly of 386 4th Street and a resident of Grancare Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the nursing home. He was born on November 11, 1925 in the Town of Empire the son of Emil A. and Sara Nealon (Davis) Sabel Sr. On January 19, 1946 he married Ruth Salzman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac. Ruth preceded him in death on May 5, 2011.William served in the U.S. Army in Korea from October 1945 to February 1947 in the 6th Division as an inventory specialist. He was employed with Galloway West, Division of Borden's for 40 years retiring in 1989. With his wife he enjoyed trout fishing at his trailer at Red Granite and hunting trips to Montana. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.SURVIVORS: William is survived by four sons, Roger (Patricia) Sabel, Fond du Lac, Richard (Debbie) Sabel, Town of Empire, David (Theresa) Sabel, Oshkosh, and Randy (Linda) Sabel, Eden, two daughters, Sharon (William) Rhead, Ann Arbor, MI, and Annette (Kenneth) Zynda, Stevens Point. Eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, a sister, Shirley Jo (Carl) Schubert, Fond du Lac and a brother Emil A. Sabel, Jr., Fond du Lac. William is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Braatz, Marge Schingen both of North Fond du Lac, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Jack Sabel, two sisters, Wanda Maier, Charmaine Putz, five brothers-in-law, Robert Schingen, Robert Braatz, Martin Putz, Elmer Thielitz, Franklin "Bud" Maier, and two sisters-in-law Dorothy Thielitz, and Iola Sabel.



VISITATION: Friends may call on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Reverend Jon Christensen officiating. Burial will follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75 will conduct military graveside services.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
