William F. “Bill” Schneider, 84, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary after a long battle with Parkinson’s & Dementia. He was born in Stockbridge on June 15, 1936, to Jacob & Veronica (Schmitt) Schneider. On Oct. 4, 1958 he married Phyllis (Van Enkenvort) at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere.
He served within the Army National Guard and was deployed to Ft. Lewis, WA for the Berlin Crisis Call-up. Bill was the founder of “Bill & Wayne’s Tree Service” and took great pride in the work that he and his crew provided. “Mr. Schneider” coached baseball for St. Peter Athletic Club for several years and produced many winning teams. Later in life he made a point to attend all of his grandchildren’s ball games and always gave out that renowned dollar bill for any homerun. He held various offices with the Holyland Snowflyers and enjoyed snowmobiling. He was a member of the Fishermen's Road Fishing Club and held various offices with them. Bill was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman and spent many hours staring into Lake Winnebago.
Survivors include his three children, William (JoAnn) Schneider of Malone, Wayne (Laura) Schneider of Fond du Lac and Vicki Freund (Steve) of Marytown; seven beloved grandchildren, Jason (Anne) Schneider, Justin (Mirah) Schneider, Courtney (Tom) Ockwood, Hannah Cruckson, Rachel (David) Winterburg, Ryan (Julie) Freund and Kyle (Sara) Freund; nine great grandchildren, Joses, AJ, Eloise, Mallory, Garrett, Reese, Acher, Eden and Norah.
He is further survived by his brothers, Clarence (Eileen) Schneider of Chilton and Fritz (Chris) Schneider of Athlestane and many special brother & sister-in-laws and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, his daughter Sandra, his parents and several dear brothers, sisters, in-laws and nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, N8079 Church Rd, Malone, WI, 53049 with a catholic mass to follow at church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the grave site. Due to Emergency Order #1 under Executive Order #82, masks are required while in attendance at St. Peter’s Church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
The family would like to thank the staff at Villa Loretto, Villa Rosa and St. Agnes Hospice Hope for their exceptional care and compassion they gave to our father.
