William Francis "Bill" Theisen

William F. "Bill" Theisen, 92, of Fond du Lac, died September 5, 2011 at Hospice Home of Hope. Bill was born on May 5, 1919 in Dacada, WI, the son of Walter and Irma Paasch Theisen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a gunner's mate aboard the U.S.S. Uvalde and celebrated at several Navy reunions across the United States. He grew up in the Milwaukee area and later resided in Merton and Mayville, until moving to Fond du Lac in 1986. On December 21, 1963 he married Kathleen M. Blake in Hartland, WI. Bill traveled across the United States and abroad during his 38 years working for Exeter Machine Company, Lomira. After retiring in 1981, he remained a consultant until 1997. Bill was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, a long time member of Fishing Has No Boundaries and the Am Vets Post #41. He enjoyed camping, fishing, tinkering, and being with his family. His twenty year battle with inclusion body myositis made his hobbies very challenging as time went on, but his strength, determination and endless support from his wife of 47 years allowed him to continue to do what he loved. SURVIVORS: his loving wife, Kathy; two daughters, Sandee (Ken) Schmitt, Waukesha, Sheri (Bill) Amidon, Campbellsport; five grandchildren, Justin Schmitt and Paula,Waukesha, Vicki (Dan) Lewein, Waukesha, Heather, Renee, and Bridgette; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Josephine Theisen, Waukesha, Roberta (Ralph) Lorenz, Black Creek; one brother-in-law, Eugene (Audrey) Blake, Black Creek; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Walter in 2004; two brothers, Clifford in 1978 and Merlin in 2010.



VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 8 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Friday from 10 "“ 11 AM at church. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Huff officiating. Entombment will follow in the Veterans Garden of Honor, Ledgeview Memorial Park. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 firing squad will conduct military graveside services.The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Home of Hope for their care and comfort to the entire family during his final journey.Memorials can be directed to Fishing Has No Boundaries (FHNB), the Myositis Foundation or Hope Lutheran Church.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
