William G. Olson, age 90, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1924 in Evanston, IL, the son of John O. and Lillian F. (McNeill) Olson. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946 and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre. On September 13, 1947 he married Louise M. Schopen in Wilmette, IL. Following high school Bill attended Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Bill was a teacher and coach in the Fond du Lac School District for thirty-six years retiring in 1986. He was a member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75, former member of the Fondy Booster Club, and a charter member of the South Shore Referee’s Association.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Louise of Fond du Lac; three sons, James (Sharon) Olson of Oconomowoc, William D. (Kay) Olson of Appleton, Thomas (Marquis) Olson of Aurora, CO; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, John “Mac” Olson of Canton, MI; one sister, Frances Kibort of Palos Park, IL; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and James; and two sisters in law, Betty and Mary.
VISITATION: Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 1-2 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military honors at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.
