William J. Leasa, 77, formerly of River Road in Fond du Lac, passed away early Friday, January 20, 2006, at St. Francis Home where he had been a resident. He was born February 2, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the son of William Oliver Leasa and Barbara Ann Dugelman. He was a veteran of the US Navy. On August 26, 1950, he married Valeria F. Rose at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. Mr. Leasa was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church. He was formerly employed by Tolibia Cheese Company and Kaufman Electric. With his friend, Jerry Bachman, they formed Bachman-Leasa Electric. In 1963, Bill and his wife Valeria formed W.J. Leasa Electric, Inc. Bill will be remembered as an honest and charitable businessman, devoted to his work and his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and the family cottage at Mt. Morris. He was a founding member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) in Fond du Lac, and held a license with the State of Wisconsin as a designer of engineering systems. His memberships included the National Electrical Contractors Association, Ducks Unlimited, Elks Lodge #57, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #664.Surviving is his wife, Valeria, six children, Mona Eiring and her husband Don, Marc Leasa and his wife, Mary, Lynn Penn and her husband, Jeffrey, all of Fond du Lac, Jay and his wife, Laura, of Eldorado, Terry and his wife Renee and Jodi Hull and her husband, Dustin, both of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren, Chad (Anna) Eiring, Jason Eiring, Nicolette and Elliott Leasa, Mitchell, Mason, and Lydia Penn, Amanda and Austin Leasa, Jenni (Jesse) Krueger, Brian Luecking, Anna Leasa and Ethan and Madison Hull. Also surviving is a sister, Joan Meekin and her husband, Jack, of Rockville, MD, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evangelin "Dolly" Johnson and Beatrice Miller.
Visitation for Mr. William W.J. Leasa will be on Monday, January 23, 2006, from 12:30 to 3:00 pm at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 pm at the chapel on Monday. The Rev. Joe Wolf, C.A.P. OFM will officiate and cremation will follow. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family. A memorial has been established in Mr. Leasa's name.
