William R. Meyst, 73, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born in Evanston, IL on March 22, 1945, the son of William and Mary Callendar Meyst. William graduated from Goodrich High School in 1963 and attended Northern University in Ashland, WI and University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. On November 11, 1978 he married Dena M. Micklos at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fond du Lac. William was Vice President of Sales with Northern Aluminum Foundry in North Fond du Lac until his retirement in 2003. After retirement he had his own business as a Manufacturer’s Representative.
William was a past president and founding member of Fond du Lac Community Theater, past president and member of Noon Rotary Club, Fond du Lac County Board Supervisor, Fond du Lac County Economic Development Association board member and Rienzi Cemetery board member. He was also active with the Fond du Lac United Way, very involved with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and was a supporter of the Arts. He enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, watching Wisconsin Hockey and Football, and rode his stationary bike all over the United States. Above all else William was a great husband, dad, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Dena; two daughters, Mary Meyst and Theodora (Courtney Hunter) Meyst; two grandchildren, Andromeda and Thanos Hunter; three siblings, Peter (Lois) Meyst, John (Carol) Meyst, and Sara (Paul) Saffran; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Freya Hunter.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff on 5West at St. Agnes Hospital for their care and compassion given to William and his family.
