William W. "Bill" Bauer, 92, formerly of 488 Garfield Street passed away on Friday, September 7, 2007, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center where he had been a resident for the past four and a half years. Mr. Bauer was born August 1, 1915, in Oshkosh, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Bradel) Bauer. On August 17, 1940, he married June M. Sonnenburg at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. William graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1934, after which he went to work for Giddings and Lewis Machine Tool Company. He retired on August 1, 1977 after 42 years of employment as a supervisor in quality control. He was a member of the Foreman's Club, the Staff Club, as well as a member of the G & L Oldsters.Mr. Bauer is survived by June, his wife of 67 years. In addition, he is survived by a daughter, Marjorie (James) Christie of Fond du Lac, two sons, James Bauer of Oshkosh and Thomas (April) Bauer of Denver as well as a daughter-in-law, Carolyn of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is further survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robert in 1996, a grandson, a great-granddaughter, and a daughter-in-law, Judith, in 2004. His sisters and their husbands Agnes (Pete) Eiteuner and Betty (Jack) Kendall as well as a brother, Joseph and his wife, Lillian, also preceded him in death.
Visitation for Bill will be on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, from 2 to 3 pm at the Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. A Liturgy of the Word for Christian Burial service will be at 3 pm on Wednesday at the mausoleum. Deacon Larry Hughes will officiate and inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice Hope of Fond du Lac or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
