WILLIS MC DERMOTTWillis E. McDermott age 83, formerly of 521 Minnesota Avenue, North Fond du Lac died Thursday evening at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past 3 years. He was born on December 31, 1921 in the Deer Creek the son of John E. and Ella Becker McDermott. On June 25,1947 he married Alice M. Duket at Community United Methodist Church, North Fond du Lac. Alice preceded him in death on December 6,1986 Willis was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy submarine division. He was on the USS Bluefish and USS Paddle and had 5 war patrols on each ship. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a brakeman for over 40 years. Willis was a member of Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie No. 270, World War II Submarine Organization, USS V.I.,Veteran of Foreign Wars Bohlman Grimes Post No. 1904, Dreier-Bushee Vanderboom American Legion Post No.156, North Fond du Lac. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels, snowmobiling, fishing and was a great storyteller. SURVIVORS: one brother Carlton (Patricia) McDermott of St. Peter, one nephew Craig McDermott of Fond du Lac, three nieces, Belinda (Randy) Hollander of Brandon, Kelly (Chris) Nelson of St. Peter, Michel (fiancé D. Skylar Bryson) McDermott of Oshkosh, two great nieces, and two great nephews, longtime friend, Harry Alvey of Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Lucette Schuman and Shirley Hernandez, one brother, Louis McDermott.
VISITATION: Monday, October 17, 2005 from 5-7:30 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation will take place with military inurnment services at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
